Wikileaks Partially Muzzled But Not Silent Update-3

02/29/08

ZDNet is reporting that District Court Judge Jeffrey S. White has unmuzzled Weakileaks.org as the case proceeds. Next up is a hearing scheduled for March 14 May 16, 2008 at 9:00am1:

09:00 AM (r)C-08-824 JSW
Bank Julius Baer, et al., v. Wikileaks, et al.,
Motion to Intervene filed by the POGO, et al.,
Courtroom 2 (17th Floor)
450 Golden Gate Ave
San Francisco, California 94102

During today's hearing a very wise judge fired a verbal warning shot—coercive models of governance have limitations:

"We live in an age when people can do some good things and people can do some terrible things without accountability necessarily in a court of law,"--District Court Judge, Jeffrey S. White--

Wonder what is required to ensure our next generation non-coercive models maximize "good things" and minimize "terrible things"? Acknowledging and accepting the limitation of the old models seems like a great beginning...

-----notes-----

1. The Court's order of February 29, 2008 sets a hearing date and time of May 16, 2008 at 9:00 a.m. for all pending motions to dismiss or to intervene and any further motions to dismiss. This order may subsume the March 14, 2008 at 9:00am date and time. However, as of this posting Judge White's calendar has POGO's (Project on Government Oversight) intervener motion scheduled for March 14, 2008 at 9:00am. (recheck the calendar as the dates approach)
