Forum shopping is nothing new, especially in the US. Insurance lawsuits have been shopped everywhere and some state are notorious for the damage awards. But when one country interferes in the legal system of another we have a big problem. Making the judgment unenforceable in the US is one way to go, but what makes anyone think Great Britain will allow US judgments to be enforced over there? Just a thought, follow this to an absurd conclusion and that's where this situation will wind up.

Hi Laura,

Our Internet is very new and we are, together, just beginning to understand and learn how to use it. We are very fortunate, to date, its benefits have overwhelmed its burdens AND its wise users vastly overwhelm its unwise users. The harmful users are truly infinitesimal and they are no challenge to the wise and unwise users of the Internet or our law enforcement.

The Internet age renders a major premise of defamation law invalid—we all have a voice (which is understandably making some uncomfortable) and it's up to each of us to learn to use and evaluate those voices.

Your logic for withholding the Internet from your children escapes me. Our children need their mothers (some of the most patient teachers in the world) to teach them how to artfully and effectively use the Internet—not by restricting access or withholding information, but by adding, explaining and clarifying the information.

After all isn't this exactly what Barbara Bauer is afraid the readers of your sister's blog are unable to do—so she is asking the law to intervene.

ow! This is all so interesting.Lesia Valentine is my sister and has in the past and still to this day,defames me and other siblings. She is very cruel in her attempts for fame and fortune. She has gone as far as to write and blog things about my children with my ex-husband. We have not and never will give permission for our children to belong to or associate themselves with anything on the internet expecially a blog page of someone else!Lesia has in the past, gone as far as to threaten the court system about my character so that I would most certainly lose a very painfull sexual assault case. My respect for any type of sisterhood we should share is non-existing and even pathetic. Lesia has spent many years of her life being angry at the world, and wondering why she hasn't had a better life. Her attempts to blame everyone else in all her matters, is truely her best accomplishment in life. She is a miserable soul, and wants to surround herself with others that feel hurting people is a significant life's work. I am sorry for you Lesia, and if you are reading this, please return my things that my kids made for me that I entrusted you with while I traveled. Lindsey wants her christening gown back, and the china that belongs to her. I was told by Misty that you gave her Daddy's bible, which was mine, and then proceeded to sell it to me. Lesia, you have no respect for others, no dignity for your family members, and true goodness in your heart! Unfortunately, I hope that this woman wins this case against you. It will then show people like you how detramental these matters can be. To the plaintiff; Whether or not you deserve the accusations brought about by these people I do not know. Apparently it wasn't "ConLaw 101" that you can't forbid speech simply because it's found offensive. On the free speech violation, as distinguished from the detention, the Ninth Circuit affirmed the grant of qualified immunity on the ground that the meaning of "disruption" was unclear in the middle-school context.

I would like to offer you additional details on Chinese dissident Mr. Harry Wu's investigation.

Promotion of such outrageous claims made in anticipation of Chinese leader's April stateside visit (and now spun into propaganda for boycott of 2008 Olympics) have detracted from those who turely are concerned about China's progress and 1.3 billion people's well being.

It is in this spirit I object to Kilgour report. For example where's the phone bill for the alleged hundreds of phone calls to Chinese hospitals Mr. Kilgour reviewed? How did Kilgour mistaken those autopsy photos as evidence of organ removal? Or forgotten organ removal by medical examiner is routine? after a long career as a prosecutor?

"[Analysis & Opinion] Without concrete and substantiated evidence, such reports are not credible. Also, the description of "underground concentration camp" is in conflict with what Peter and Annie said. I spent 19 years as a political prisoner in China's forced labor camps and have experienced many transfers. No transfer occurred like the one described.
III. Conclusion

1) No concrete or substantiated evidence, such as documents or photos, have been provided to support the witness' statements.

2) Both Annie and Peter, who are now in the US, refuse to reveal their real names despite that fact that they no longer reside in China. This makes it difficult for the international community to corroborate their testimonies and makes their statements less strong. Since they claim to have knowledge about thousands of people whose lives may be in danger it is essential that they be more open about who they are and what they know.

3) The claim that Falun Gong practitioners' live organs are being harvested is diverting attention from real, substantiated facts. China has been harvesting organs from executed prisoners for more than 20 years and this has been proven. This is an issue that the Falun Gong never mentions, and its allegations about live harvesting or reverse-organ donations remain unconfirmed.

4) The Chinese Communist Government is an evil regime that commits many atrocities including the persecution of the Falun Gong. However, the logic does follow that because the government has outlawed the spiritual group it has created Sujiatun and other concentration camps to kill and harvest the organs of live Falun Gong practitioners. Without proof this is not logical reasoning.

5) Those who doubt the existence of Sujiatun, including myself, should not be criticized as "obstacles to the investigation" or be accused of "cooperating with Beijing".

6) Today, there is not much national or international attention to the Sujiatun issue. This does not imply that the international community does not value human rights. Nor does it mean that the world has been pressured by Beijing to remain silent, or that is has taken the side of the Communist regime. When I received Falun Gong's report, I personally arranged for Sujiatun to be investigated right away, include the hospital, Kangjiasan Prison and Jiutai Laojiao Camp. Officers and staff from the US embassy in Beijing and the US Consulate in Shenyang visited the Sujiatun site two times. Overseas media also sent reporters to investigate the case. These actions show that people treated the Sujiatun issue very seriously. However, the Falun Gong claims that "Sujiatun Auschwitz" exists have yet to substantiate and appear to be nothing more than political propaganda."

"Specialist in Asian Affairs at the Congressional Research Service, Thomas Lum, noted that the evidence could have easily been distorted. The individuals calling the hospitals were all affiliated with FLG, and Lum said that it is unlikely for doctors and officials working for the state to casually divulge such sensitive and damaging information so easily.

Moreover, Lum’s efforts to contact both the Chinese journalist and doctor’s wife have been fruitless, as FLG members direct all communications toward these individuals and they often do not respond. Harry Wu, a longtime political activist known for his hardline anti-PRC views, announced on August 9, 2006 that he would challenge the allegations made by FLG about targeted organ harvesting, especially the claim about the Sujiatun concentration camp.

About the report, the South China Morning Post reports, “Mr. Wu, who has spent 15 years gathering evidence on the harvesting of organs from executed Chinese prisoners, said the information was based on the testimony of two witnesses, neither of whom had first-hand information. He believed the reports were fabricated.?Wu had tried to follow up with the witnesses just as Lum had—to the same futility. In the face of these criticisms, including from even Wu, who formerly held friendly relations with FLG, all things considered the allegations FLG has made about a targeted campaign of state-sponsored genocide are most likely untrue."
