Halibut Hangar

Paul J. Early (1925-2008), USS Halibut, SSN 587, (1959-1960), Rear Admiral, died on October 24, 2008 at the age of 83.

Early was an incipient participant in Navy submarine nuclear power, author of Principles and Practice of Nuclear Medicine, and most recently Vice President and Corporate Radiation Safety Officer for Digirad Corporation, a Poway, San Diego, California based company focused on gamma-ray radiation imagery.

A wife Violet, daughter Susan, son Brian, a grandson, and great-grandson survive Paul.

Paul’s body will begin its rest eternal in the cemetery of our Naval Academy where he graduated in 1948.
