NY Times is reporting that court documents allege Jose Padilla was tortured:1
His interrogations, [lawyers] say, included hooding, stress positions, assaults, threats of imminent execution and the administration of “truth serums.”
Our government must make ALL documents related to the Jose Padilla case public. Additionally, our government must be held completely accountable for ALL acts of torture.
Our government's denials of torture are no longer credible and are falling on deaf ears.

UPDATED 08/16/2007 NYT, Padilla Is Guilty on All Charges in Terror Trial
"This demonstrates, at least for now, that the United States is fully capable of prosecuting terrorism while affording defendants the full procedural protections of the Constitution," --Abby Goodnough and Scott Shane quoting Michael Greenberger--
UPDATED 08/14/2007 NPR Audio, Padilla Case Set for Closing Arguments
The Padilla case illustrates why it is so important to eliminate all kangaroo tribunals and kangaroo processes. Padilla went from a radioactive dirty bomber when held in secret to little more than a bit player, if that, when tried in open federal courts - a jury (not a kangaroo tribunal) will tell us which - bit player or not a player.
Kangaroo tribunals and processes (all secret processes) will rot our system from the inside out without our being aware of it, until it’s too late. That Americans have tolerate our dangerous, harmful, lying, rogue, arrogant, ignorant, incompetent, and ineffective president’s kangaroo tribunals and processes this long is an embarrassment and shame to us all.
The Christian Science Monitor has an excellent series on Padilla verdict and how his case has damaged citizen's rights and the United States' ability to wage the war on terror.
UPDATED 04/15/2007 Key US terror trial set to begin
Jury selection begins tomorrow. It is an insult to our federal judiciary and system of justice that this case has been allowed to proceed.
Padilla, an American citizen, has been held, since 2002, without trial and under torturous conditions.
-----notes-----
1. You'll remember Jose Padilla was first declared a "dirty bomber" and "enemy combatant", a threat to thousands of Americans. He was held incommunicado for years without charges or representation by a lawyer.
After our government was forced to allow representation and just prior to US Supreme Court intervention America's "dirty bomber" and "enemy combatant" morphed into a conspirator and material supporter! All of our government’s prior hyperbole evaporated over night.
