Carelessness, Recklessness Or Needed Candor

Why, on anything of significance, is candor called careless or reckless?

Take, for example, former President Jimmy Carter's candid statement, about what every high-schooler with a decent history teacher knows, that the current Bush administration is the worst in history (presumably American history).

Carter makes some candid comments and suddenly everybody's panties are all knotted - why? Shouldn't we encourage our former president's (and others), who after all are in a pretty good position to judge, to be candid with the public about the current president's performance?

Especially, when the current rogue, arrogant, ignorant, incompetent, and ineffective president is behaving like a drunken sailor on shore leave or worse. Staggering and stumbling from bar to bar unable to prevent harm to herself or others?

Someone has to call shore patrol and say, hey there’s a rogue, arrogant, ignorant, incompetent (or worse) president sailor causing harm to herself, others, and her nation. Can you send someone over and get her back to the ship or brig?

The people have called. Instead of Congress acting like shore-patrol it begins looking for a map, the keys to the truck, debates whether the sailor is a harm to herself, others or the nation, and decides what the sailor really needs is more money and weapons!

Somebody has to get in the truck, drive over to the bar, safely put her in the truck (or helicopter), and take her back to the ship or brig (or Texas)!

They should not ignore the caller(s) and give her more money and weapons so she can continue staggering and stumbling to the next bar, causing harm to herself, others, and the nation!
