Two Los Angles women, Olga Rutterschmidt and Helen Golay, both in their seventies, have been convicted of first degree murder after they insured Kenneth McDavid, a 50 year old homeless man, then drove over him in an alley.
These sad women will likely die in jail appealing their murder conviction, but perhaps it can remind us that we must eradicate (not just eliminate) homelessness.
Every member of our society must have continuous lifetime access to basic: secure and safe shelter; physical and mental healthcare; educational and training opportunities; and meaningful, ascending, and progressive pathways to social integration1.

1. Even though some (many) homeless may not (will not) methodically access these resources in an expected or typical manner.
No individual should become a victim of marginalization or murder schemes—sadly, until someone figures out how to decouple worth and wealth many will—decoupling these is not trivial, but when we do our system and we will be stronger and in an ironic capitalist twist, wealthier!
Wonder what could be accomplished if toddlers were guided by the principle that no matter what harebrained idea they pursued there exists a basic floor, below that nobody goes?
