World Bank president, Robert Zoellick, adds his voice to the urgent voices of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) and World Food Program. All are saying additional resources are urgently required to offset increasing inflation in the food sector.

At a time when this administration justifies even the most egregious actions under the rubric of "freedom" it seems relevant to recall a famous quote by Adlai Stevenson II2:

"A hungry man is not a free man"--Adlai Stevenson II--

  • UPDATED 05/01/2008 BBC->Bush offers $770m for food crisis. Bush ups his aid request by $570 million for a total of $770 million emergency food aid.

Unfortunately, the request has been made part of the additional $70 billion dollar war-funding request which should be denied to the extent it funds the Iraq War debacle.

Congress should approve the $770 million emergency food aid request after separating it from any war-funding request.

  • UPDATED 04/14/2008 BBC->US in $200m food crisis response. It's a rare opportunity that Misblog gets to praise this grossly negligent and criminal president1, but he has ordered the immediate release of $200 million to offset rapidly inflating world food prices.

So, unless the fine print or strings require recipients to take a lifetime oath to never engage in or acknowledge: masturbation; anal sex; pre-marital sex; same-sex sex; same sex marriage; abortion; or trading sexual favors, kudos to the president.

-----notes-----

1. Adlai Stevenson I was our 23rd president.

2. A president pursuing a personal presidency is not entitled to the protection the Office of the Presidency normally afford an individual holding that office.
